Polling Period

The polling period where eligible voters may cast votes in-person usually spans over a period of 48 hours from 4PM UTC+0 of the start date to 4PM UTC+0 of the end date

Postal voting opens 24 hours before the opening of the polls

Voting System (Party-List Proportionate)

Party-List Proportionate is a system is where the percentage of votes a party gets determines the percentage of the seats they have in Parliament.

Active campaigning, debate, discussion, and criticism about campaigns in the WolvHaven Discord*, and the server chat is prohibited at all times.

*Discussion, debate, and criticism may be done in the #ge-discussion channel in the WolvHaven Discord. A 1-minute slow-mode applies in this channel.

Attending events and rallies

You may attend events and rallies of parties that have received prior approval. However, you are expected to follow the rules laid out by the event or rally organizer, and other rules.

People who perform or attempt to perform disruptive actions for any event or rally will be penalized.

Cooldown Period

The cooldown period starts 24 hours before the opening of the polls through to the closure of the polls.

During the cooldown period, no messages may be posted by anyone on any medium that endorses or shows support for any party.

Any content that endorses any party in any way included in prominent places shall also be removed. This includes banners or signage on any buildings in the server and custom Discord status messages

Who can vote?

You do not need to register to vote. Simply turn up to a polling station and vote if you are eligible.

You can vote as long as you are:

  • Ranked [Citizen] or above
  • Are not banned on the server during the polling period

What can I vote for?

  • WolvHaven Parliament (General Elections)
  • Referendums

How do I vote?

In WolvHaven, you may vote in either 2 ways: In-person or via Post.

Voting in Person

Voting is as easy as 1 2 3

  • Get a ballot
    Report to a polling station and obtain a ballot from the dispenser
  • Fill & Sign
    Mark the ballot in accordance with the instructions provided – make no other markings on the ballot. Sign and close your ballot. You can enter anything you like for the name.
    • If you make a mistake, do not worry. As long as you have not dropped a signed ballot into the ballot box, you can simply discard of the ballot paper and obtain a new one from the dispenser.
  • Drop it in
    Insert your signed-and-closed ballot into the ballot boxes at the polling station

Rules of the ballot box:

  • You have only officially voted if you have submitted a signed-and-closed ballot.
  • Submission of more than one signed-and-closed ballot will disqualify the votes in both ballots.
  • Your vote is secret
  • Respect the privacy of other voters

Postal Voting

You may do a postal vote if you are unable to vote in person for any of the following reasons

  • No internet connection available on the computer
  • Hospitalization
  • On Holiday
  • Pre-arranged event before polling period
  • Are unable to join the server during the polling period

Rules of Postal Voting:

  • You must vote in person as long as you have joined the server during the polling period
    • Using apps such as pickaxe chat or minechat to connect to the server is also considered as having joined the server
  • Postal votes of individuals who have joined the server during the polling period will be voided, and their in-person vote, if any, shall be considered instead

Information for Candidates

Run for election

Eligibility Criteria to stand for election

Individuals standing for election must meet the following criteria:

  • Ranked citizen and above
  • Not banned on the server during the polling period
  • Not the president

Registration of political party

Under the party-list proportional representation system, all candidates must be in a political party. For a political party to be considered formally registered, they must have a wiki page on the WolvHaven wiki page.

The party’s wiki page must contain:

  • The party name
  • The party’s manifesto
  • The party preference list, with a minimum of 2 names, indicating their order of preference for members to enter parliament
    For lists that do not indicate the order of preference, the order of preference will be taken in a top-to-bottom fashion.

Coalitions

Parties may run together under an agreed formalized coalition, under a single voting code and coalition name. Coalitions must decide on a party to lead the coalition. The leader of the coalition shall submit the registration form on behalf of all the parties involved.

The agreed party preference list shall be published on all involved parties’ wiki pages. If there are any differences, the list from the leading party’s page will be used.

Campaigning Regulations

Campaign Period

The official campaign period starts from the moment your party has formally submitted their registration of interest for the election through the election interest registration form and ends 24 hours before the opening of the polls (cooldown period)

Before the campaign period, any messages or content that endorses any party in any way must not be posted. This includes banners and/or signage on any buildings in the server and custom Discord status messages.

Informational Messages are exempted from this rule. (refer to message definitions below)

Campaign Regulations

The following rules and regulations apply to campaigns. Parties that consistently flout these regulations will be disqualified from running in the election.

Messages – general regulations

There are three types of messages:

  • Informational Messages – Basic information messages such as linking people to a party wiki page or manifesto
    e.g. Please check out the ABC Party’s manifesto! <<link to manifesto>>
  • Informational Messages (With endorsement) – Similar to informational messages, but with active endorsement. These messages, however, cannot be used to criticize.
    e.g. Vote for the ABC Party for a better WolvHaven! See our manifesto! <<link to manifesto>>
  • Campaign Messages – Any form of active campaigning, criticism of party policies, and discussion
    e.g. The ABC Party is incompetent! Do not vote for them. Vote for the DEF party instead! There are so many problems with their plan and this is why….

All messages posted as part of an election campaign – regardless of whether they were posted on any WolvHaven-related services (i.e. the Minecraft server itself, official Discord Server, and subreddit) must not breach any of WolvHaven’s standard rules and regulations & campaign regulations.

Campaigns shall also not be used to personally attack individuals through the usage of excessively strong language or hate speech.

Campaign messages shall not utilize any individual’s personal private-related information (e.g. mental disabilities, ADHD, real-life issues) that was disclosed by the individual in-confidence to anybody within the server.

Messages – in-game & discord

Active campaigning, debate, discussion, and criticism about campaigns in the WolvHaven Discord*, and the server chat is prohibited at all times**.

*Discussion, debate, and criticism may be done in the #ge-discussion channel in the WolvHaven Discord. A 1-minute slow-mode applies in this channel. Party announcements may be made in the #ge-announcements. A 6-hour slow-mode applies in this channel. Each registered party will be entitled to 1 representative who will be given rights to post messages in this channel.

**An exception to this rule is during a scheduled rally or event, which must last no longer than 2 hours, where prior approval from SilverWolv must be sought. Informational messages (with endorsement) are permitted but must be done through private messages (i.e. /m). You must stop if the receiver has asked you to stop.

Discord – party discord servers

Posting of links to discord servers belonging to political parties is permitted. However, messages posted on these discord servers will be subject to the same campaign rules and regulations.

The cooldown period rules also apply to party discord servers

Rallies & Events

Parties may request to hold events and/or rallies in the WolvHaven City world. However, prior approval from SilverWolv must be sought.

Creative Mode can be supplied to facilitate the construction of these rallies or events. It is also advised that abuse to give any individual items for other uses will not be tolerated.

Parties must dismantle their events/rallies before the start of cooldown period and must return the area to its original state

To request for an event or rally, please DM SilverWolv the following information:

  • Location of event/rally
  • Date & Time (in UTC) of the event (max. 2hrs)

All individuals are to treat all rallies and events with respect. Individuals who disrupt, or attempt to disrupt rallies and events will be penalized accordingly.
